Matchmaker, matchmaker, make me a match! Depending on your musical style, experience, and equipment, one V-Pick model may be a better fit for you than another. We’re here to help! When you are not thinking about your guitar pick while playing, it frees you to play with your heart. This is what we’re trying to accomplish with V-Picks. We now have over 100 models to choose from! I believe we have the model that will satisfy every one of your guitar picking needs. If you have ever tried one of our plectrums in the past and didn’t quite bond with it, that doesn’t necessarily mean you don’t like V-Picks. It simply means you haven’t found the right V-Pick for YOU. And the important thing is getting you into the best guitar pick for your style and sound. That is what V-Picks are all about; equipping you to become the best player you can become.
Check out these thoughts by Alf Hermida, the maker of the Zendrive: If you think about it, the plectrum is the item that really connects you to your guitar. It is the action point. It could be considered the most important connection with the guitar that you have. If this is indeed the case, how important it must be to choose the proper tool to get maximum results for your tone and technique”.
You can call us any time of the day @ (615)927-5989 with any V-Pick questions you may have, and we will be more than happy to answer them for you. We love to talk about guitars, amps, tone, and yes, guitar picks. Our goal is to make the BEST guitar picks, bass guitar picks, and mandolin picks in the world! Our aim is to help you become a better musician, and hopefully assist in making your musical dreams come true. This will all start when we equip you with the pick that will set your thoughts at ease about your technique and gear, and let your mind and spirit create. So, let’s get started in narrowing down the right pick for you……
If you are used to small pointed picks, like the Jazz Dunlop III, then you will absolutely love the Small Pointed V-Pick. This little dude is a lot easier to hold on to, and gets a better tone. That has been told to me many times over.
If you like a strong mid range tone, most of the rounded picks will do it for you. I, myself, prefer the rounded picks because of the mids and the comfort and speed set up by the carefully calculated bevel and design.
For those of you that just can’t stand the thought of a 2.75mm pick, we have V-Pick Lites. They weigh in at 1.5mm thick. They are available in Medium Large and Freakishly Large, both round and pointed.
AND for those that just have to have some flex in your pick, may I suggest to you, the V-Pick Ultra Lite. .8mm thick/thin. Has the same V-Pick gripping action and warm feel due to the material. The Ultra Lites make a wonderful strumming acoustic pick!
As far as our sizes go, here are some clues.
The Medium is about the size of a quarter
The Large is about the same size as a regular Fender Pick.
The Freakishly Large is LARGE!
Oh, and the Small is about the same size as the Dunlop Jazz III discussed earlier.
Let’s get back to discussing thickness and tone. Please take heed of this principle, the bigger the pick, the bigger the tone. I think you will find our thinnest picks to be louder and more toneful than Brand X. But believe me, as you get thicker and thicker, the tone really starts to develop into something huge! Our picks go up to 1/2″ thick! I handed Carlos a V-Pick Colossal the other day. It is 8.75mm thick. He got a big grin on is face and said that it sounded just like his thumb. I think everybody should at least try a V-Pick 2.75mm pick to see what all the hubbub is all about. It will indeed surprise you.
So, all in all, it is really about what you’re used to and what you’re willing to try. Like I said earlier, we make over 100 models now. I’m confident we have a pick that will blow wind up your skirt.
